Hollaaaaa!
My name is Josie Cathy Roberts. I do fashion design at BCU. I am in my second year; going university is the best thing I have done so far.
I have a huge passion for photography; my dream would be to go into Styling expect of the fashion world and to have some kind of career in that business. It all sounds so exciting!
I do my own freelance Photography out side of university to basically start a portfolio soon ready for when I graduate. I am still learning something new with photography every day.
I successfully have a GSCE in Photography but there is a lot I don't know that I would love to know, hopefully that's where my work experience will come when I get some. :)
After Fashion design I may even do a course on Photography separately so I will know both expects of my favorite subjects :)
I love styling- I have done photography for a few weddings now and help style them and get ready in the morning which is always fun because I love weddings! When you get asked to be such a big part in someones day like that, It brings you just as much excitement.

Little shoes...Little steps..

Ever since I did my Styling for Editorial I keep adding little bows to "ALL of my shoes!"
Must admit though, It looks better on these heels!
There has been people where they have asked me where did I get those heels from thinking the bows are part of them; but they're not. They are just hair clips! I think they loook fab! :)
Basically all I done is, where the zip shield is there is juuuust enough room for the hair clip to slide down it, and enough grib for it to actually stay. Just slide it down.
Any clip would work I guess; it makes your heels look that little but more fancy!

Styling for editorial...

So this is my photoshoot which I am very proud of :). These photos will be going in my portfolio.

Hollaa! This is my Photo- shoot from Styling for editorial.
Basically we had a starting image out of 10 different ones, and this was mine by Deborah Turbeville. I started to look at the really feminine side of things that I thought this image shown to me. I found various different photographers that had the same rusty but really elegant feminine side; such as Fashion Photographer Jason Christopher. I liked the ballet look that this Fashion Photographer had in his photos and that I could possibly wanted to use the idea in my photoshoot by using the ballet shoes.

I was inspired by Gemma Booths Photography who is a young photographer who shoots for Lula magazine plus many more magazine company's that are well know; Her work is vintage by using sunlight but when it came to doing my photo-shoot I didn't have any sunlight just a cloudy cold day! From this I researched into Lula magazine, There photo-shoots I thought we very vintage and I loved their work a lot! I looked at their website which plays some really cool music when you go on it; makes you want to dance a little :D ha and they look into not just fashion and do a lot of  polariod photos. so.... Fancy little me got my polariod camera out of the cupboard and brought the some paper off ebay and took the camera along to the photoshoot for pre-getting ready/ during the photoshoot! They turned out very pale and fitted my color palette perfectly :D! 3 out of 8 worked... Bloody thing yet I was so excited! I will upload up them on here very soon! :)

I then looked a Fashion Stylist called Katie Shilling ford who styles for Dazed and Confused. Her styling is very vintage and little over the top. But I liked the vintage doll like look her models had therefore I looked into vintage dolls...vintage china and porcelain. She used pinks...whites... beige.
and then this was my focus point for the rest of my researching point...
Sooooo... I went shopping YAY! I got all the clothes I needed for this shoot, I looked at lace, silk, and even brought these little daisy's to sew on to my clothes for spring summer 2012 look and anything feminine.  It worked out lovely!
My photographer Tristan did a wonderful job with these photo's. I gave him a page or two of the kind of the idea I wanted for my photo-shoot and he was amazing! He has made my styling photos look so professional. So A huuuuuuge thankyou was in Order.

I wanted my model to look really doll like as if she has been left on the shelve.. or been left on the stairs and I must say without being a BIG head.. I think the photos give that impression. She looks very doll like thank you to the Make up/ Hair stylist Kari. She was amazing- She ragged my models hair before to make it into a little curly afro that was messy and it was very doll like. :)

Newspaper nails...

I saw this video on this blog about a week ago and thought it was genius!
The video I came across; was to look like you have news papered your actual nails!!
It goes perfectly with my module that I am doing in University right now. I am looking at the vintage expect of things for my Styling for Editorial Photo shoot and I thought this fitted in just brilliant!
Apologies for the weird hand pose but I found it hard to hold the camera at the same time for a semi decent photo. :)!!
If your wondering how I did this..
1- Paint your nails any colour; I did mine grey.
2- When dry dip a nail in Rubbing alcohol for 5 seconds.
3-Place news paper on top straight away and hold for 5 seconds..Depending what nail varnish you may need longer.
and that's it! :D You should be left with the letters.
4- Dont for get to top coat in clear.
Warning though It does fade and when applying your top coat- It taaakes looooong to drryyy!

I hope you like this.
Thought I would share it with yaaazz! :)

Boyfriend clothes...

 MY OUTFIT TODAYYY :)

Just by buttoning up your shirt can make your outfit look complete different. It doesn't matter what you wear your shirts with, by buttoning up your shirts looks smart & classy. I dunno about you but it makes me feel like a boy and I should be wearing my boyfriend jeans!
I LOVE purple! This shirt is my favorite! :) <3

It has little gold buttons the whole way down but I think it makes the shirt just that little bit more fancy and better than plain black buttons.
I will get photos but I have changed the buttons on some of my clothes with other cute little buttons like bows; got rid of the boring black ones and amazingly it changes a lot. Looks cute! Photos yet to come!

Purple sleeveless shirt; £19.99 New Look.

Little Bow Peep...

Topshop Red bow Headband £12

(Above)I brought this headband ages ago which I found in my room just the other week; I love to wear it with my hair down as it looks very 60's and I feel like a house wife haha!
And it completes any outfit with different color ribbon!

Red lace or white ribbon- £0.60p a meter.
I had a long day at uni Yesterday and I just shoved my hair up so it was a complete mess by the time I traveled home from Birmingham. I had some Red lace in my ribbon box which added a nice little touch to my pony tail and I thought it looked really nice!
Therefore I put ribbon in my hair all the time from now on; reminds me of when I was younger and I used to watch Matilda all the time! LOVE that film aha!
If you don't have any ribbon then you can get some from any textiles or fabric stores.

Grandma's Wardrobe...

My whole wardrobe is full of various cardigans in all different fabrics... I just love them! I used these for my texture when it came to my photo-shoot for my concept for Adobe Photoshop module. I don't have the best Wardrobe, I wish I could go shopping everyday! I feel like I always need new clothes!
I LOVED every second of this little shoot. Obvious you wont catch your Grandma wearing stockings like I have done on the model but I tried to make my photo-shoot be a mix with a new trend at the time. Which actually worked well! :)
I remember it was very cold that day! My friend Hollie; bless her... I always make her wear hardly anything in the freezing cold! haha!
Lemme know what you think :)

My fashion illustration

I have to admit, drawing is not my best quality therefore photoshop is heaven for me! I use my own Photography to draw from (attempt to) and then upload it to Photoshop to color in and to make it more professional with various textures; which in all fairness I was very proud of when finished.
I hope you like them :)

Little freelance...

I LOVE to do styling; and to do my own freelance photography when I get the opportunity is amazing!!. I have been to various weddings where I helped them get ready in the morning, and spent the whole day with them until they cut the cake! Weddings are always fun and its a great experience to be a big part of their special day. To see their faces and get such natural photos is beautiful! I get caught in the moment and I end up getting all sorts of photos throughout the day. I thought I would share just some of my photographs so you can see the way I work.

Just a little photo-shoot...

This time last year I was really excited about having my first concept for my conceptual materials and form module. I had all my locations thought out before I had even done my shoot! I guess you know your going to do well as soon as your mind gets all these amazing ideas and you cant wait to start. I did well in this module because its something I had a good feeling about. I had to make garment for materials and form which to be honest I'm not good at making. The skills are there but need improving; but for my first making module I didn't think I did too bad!
I looked at tone for one of my concepts and related back to my final designs and photography shoot at the end.
I thought about shape, silhouette when designing and making my garment; I used wire in the skirt to get this effect.
When it came to my shoot I looked for somewhere where there would be a lot of shadow for the tones I wanted in my photographs. Lucky another concept as seasons as it was snowing that day! :D
I found trees in my location and took the opportunity to successfully take advantage and I had a wonderful day! I felt sorry for my friend Hollie though as it was very cold!
